WHAT IS THE ORGANIZATION?
Several years ago, the
Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) changed
its name from the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA). DPMA
was organized in the 1950's dedicated to the improvement of the
information technology profession in all areas of business, industry,
science, education and government. One of the hallmarks of the
Portland Chapter of DPMA was its annual scholarship to graduating
high school students to assist them in entering the profession with a
college degree. Since DPMA Portland Chapter is still registered as an
Oregon Non-profit Corporation, a core group of its members decided to
retain it as an organization for raising money to continue awarding
scholarships. An annual golf tournament is held to raise the
scholarship funds.
